Meet the CPD Hub Team
Following the launch of the University’s new Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Hub, we’re delighted to introduce the two people who will be leading the development of the project.
The Hub is the one-stop-shop for managing external CPD courses across the University. It will support colleagues in designing, delivering, administering and marketing CPD activity for external users on a single, University-wide platform.
Liz Riley is the new Hub Manager and Julia Zalichta is the new Hub Senior Administrator. Together, they provide strategic leadership and day-to-day support to help University colleagues develop and deliver high quality CPD with clarity, consistency and confidence.
So, whether you’re exploring a new CPD idea, navigating processes or seeking guidance on publishing activity, Liz and Julia are here to help.
Meet Liz and Julia

Liz Riley – Hub Manager
Liz brings extensive experience across further and higher education, with a strong focus on widening participation, progression and data informed improvement.
She has worked in teaching, learning, development and evaluation roles, all of which have shaped her approach to building a CPD service that is both academically robust and operationally practical.
She said:
“Throughout my career I’ve been motivated by improving access to education and creating meaningful progression routes for learners. CPD sits at the intersection of academic excellence and real world impact, which is what makes this role so exciting at Southampton.”
Liz is responsible for leading the strategic development of the Hub. She oversees the Hub model, governance, internal guidance and the external platform.
She also supports faculties to develop and publish CPD, coordinating processes and ensuring systems and communications align with agreed ways of working.
She is on hand to help colleagues with CPD processes, eligibility, definitions, timelines and how activity fits within the University’s CPD framework.
Fun Fact
In her spare time, Liz enjoys gardening, sailing, swimming, reading, binging on TV series, films and long family dog walks.

Julia Zalichta – Hub Senior Administrator
Julia brings a strong background in administration, project coordination and process improvement, with a background in health and social care education.
Before joining the University, she worked in the NHS as an endoscopy education coordinator where she gained experience supporting clinical training and coordinating learning pathways.
She said:
“I wanted to bring that into a broader educational context and support high quality professional development across the University.”
Julia is the first point of contact for CPD enquiries. She manages the inbox, keeps the course catalogue updated, coordinates operational tasks, and ensures information, processes and documentation run smoothly.
Fun Fact
Outside work, Julia enjoys time with family and friends, travelling to new countries and finding a great TV series.
Next steps
Work on the Hub will continue over the coming months, embedding the platform within faculties, expanding training and guidance, and preparing for broader internal use and external promotion.
