Student Enterprise delivers global bootcamps spanning Southampton and Delhi

Over the weekend of Friday 24 to Sunday 26 April, the Student Enterprise team delivered two intensive bootcamps in parallel – one in the city centre of Southampton and one at the University of Southampton’s Dehli campus, bringing together students across continents to develop ideas, build confidence and strengthen enterprise skills.

More than 65 students took part overall, with 25 students in Southampton and over 40 in Delhi, representing a diverse mix of disciplines, backgrounds and business ideas.

Enterprise skills in action

Both bootcamps immersed students in fast-paced problem solving and idea development. Across the weekend, attendees grew in confidence as they refined ideas, worked collaboratively and practised communicating their ideas to their peers.

Ending in a pitch showcase, students across both campuses presented their business ideas to each other, with cash prizes awarded to the winning ventures. The quality and ambition of the ideas demonstrated how much progress students can make in a short period when supported to test, adapt and clearly communicate their ideas.

Social impact focus in Delhi

The Social Impact Bootcamp at the Delhi campus focused on ideas rooted in local challenges, encouraging students to explore how enterprise can drive positive social change.

Working intensively from early problem framing to idea development, prototyping and pitching, students demonstrated the power of enterprise education in supporting purpose-driven innovation, particularly within the University’s newest international campus.

Delivered by the Head of Student Enterprise, Social Impact and Events and the Social Enterprise Manager, the bootcamp was supported on the ground by colleagues in Delhi and attended in person by Amy Brereton, CEO of Enactus UK & Ireland, highlighting the importance of global partnerships in supporting student enterprise.

Small business speed launch success in Southampton

In Southampton, the Small Business Speed Launch bootcamp brought together aspiring student founders to rapidly develop and test early-stage business ideas.

Delivered in partnership with the University’s Women in Business society, the event created an inclusive and collaborative environment where students could share ideas, receive feedback and refine their proposals ahead of final pitches. The showcase reflected a wide range of business ambitions, with students demonstrating clear progression both in their ideas and confidence over the weekend.

Together, the two bootcamps showed how globally connected enterprise activity can build students’ confidence and capability, encourage socially minded thinking, and support students to turn early ideas into action.
