Piers Wilkinson re-elected as Director of the National Association of Disability Practitioners

Piers Wilkinson, Learning Technologist in the Digital Learning Team and iSolutions EDI member, has been re-elected as a Director of the National Association of Disability Practitioners.

Since joining Southampton in June 2025, Piers has led the learning technology investigations into Blackboard’s Learning Object Repository as a solution for courses with shared content, delivered staff development sessions, and consulted with Estates and Facilities on the design of accessible spaces. Externally, they presented at the JISC Connect More conference, delivered research on loneliness and relationships among disabled people at the Disability Now! Conference, and were invited to guest lecture at Dundee University on the Assistive Technology MSc programme.

Piers previously held public appointments as Inquiry Commissioner for the House of Lords Higher Education Commission and Commissioner for the Disabled Students’ Commission. They sit on Jisc’s Assistive Technology Network strategy group and the advisory board for Dundee’s MSc in Educational Assistive Technology. They received Jisc’s 2024 Community Champion Pioneer Award and represented the University of Southampton this year at JISC’s Digifest conference.
